A true image of Khabarovsky Krai and the Far East in general is connected with the Far East Symphony Orchestra headed by People’s Artist of Russia and Honored Citizen of Khabarovsk Viktor Tits (1938-2006).
Viktor Tits was born in 1938. His first musical experience was in family. His father played the violin and his mother played the piano. Music was a necessary part of their life as in all German families. Wish to conduct appeared at age of 6. Viktor Zigmundovich finished Moscow Conservatory, then the Aspiranture of the Moscow Conservatory. After graduating the aspiranture he had a choice in distribution to Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk and Khabarovsk. His choice was Khabarovsk.
In 1967 he became a chief conductor of the Far East Symphony Orchestra. In 1978 Viktor Zigmundovich left orchestra by the reason of uncreative character.
But in 1989 he returned to the orchestra and in 1991 the orchestra headed by Tits became independent creative association. Great Russian and foreign conductors and musicians took part in his programs.
The Far East Symphony Orchestra headed by Viktor Tits had a great success in Russia, Japan and Korea.
Great musician, People’s Artist of Russia, Honored Citizen of Khabarovsk Viktor Tits died in March of 2006.
Kola Beldy
Kola Beldy (1929-1993) was born in the small village Mukha of Nanaisky district in a family of hunter. He became an orphan very early and educated in the boarding school. In 1943 he went to front and became a ship-boy of a Pacific Ocean fleet. There he performed in the ensemble of song and dance. After service Kola entered the Saratov conservatory. Art activity of Cola Beldy lasts for forty years: since of 1950th to 1990th. It was a very difficult period of rebuilding the whole Estrada. The style of his art of 60-70th was “Songs of the deerman”. The most famous songs of that time are “I will carry away you to tundra”, “Tchuktcha is in the reindeer-tent”, “My deer”. To the end of 70th a new program appeared in his repertoire one part of which was devoted to songs of the North nationalities.
More than 40 years Kola Beldy was on the stage and 30 years of them he made a tour around the country and foreign countries. Cola Beldy is very popular abroad. There are many interviews for newspapers and magazines, programs on radio and TV, testimonials of people about his unique voice and manner of singing.
Kola Beldy died 21 of December in 1993. After his death his wife Olga organized public fond “Kola Beldy”.

Concert Hall of the krai philharmonic society
Concert Hall of the krai philharmonic society plays a notable role in the region’s musical life.
The building of the Concert Hall of the krai philharmonic society was built in 1880s. First it was a two-story building of the military meeting. In 1914-1916 it was reconstructed into a building of three-story building.
During the war it was a building of the military hospital, and in 1947 after the new reconstruction there was a Musical Comedy Theatre. Only in 1980s the building was transferred to the Far East Art museum and the krai philharmonic society. And in 1998 it was closed for four years.
The reconstruction of the Concert Hall of the krai philharmonic society was a nice present for musicians, performers and the audience.
Only Khabarovski Krai Philharmonic society has kept intact its own teams of the chamber music ensemble of Gloria and the Far East ensemble.
