ЦЕЛИ:

• Учебная: повысить мотивацию говорения на базе страноведческой тематики, развитие умения понимать речь на слух с целью извлечения общей и детальной информации;

• Развивающая: развитие языковой догадки при помощи средств родного и английского языка, памяти, внимания и логического мышления;

• Воспитательная: формирование адекватного восприятия и отношения к образу жизни стран изучаемого языка, воспитание самостоятельности.

СОПУТСТВУЮЩИЕ ЗАДАЧИ:

• Контроль умений учащихся самостоятельно оценивать себя в разных видах речевой деятельности;

ХОД УРОКА

1. НАЧАЛО УРОКА:

T: Good morning, boys and girls. The theme of our lesson is Countries and Continents. Today well speak about different countries, well act out dialogues, do some grammar exercises and play a little. So, lets start our work.

P1: I live in Russia. It is situated in Europe and Asia. The official name of my country is the Russian Federation. Russia borders on many countries Norway, Finland, Ukraine, Belarus, China, Mongolia, Korea and Kazakhstan. Our country is washed by 12 seas and 3 oceans. The population is over 147 million people. Russia is the official language, but some people speak Tatar, Bashkir, Chuvash, Ukrainian and other languages. Moscow is the capital of the Russian Federation.

P2: Great Britain is situated on the British Isles. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean, the Irish Sea and the North Sea. The population is over 59 million people. English is the official language, but some people speak Scottish, Welsh and Irish. The capital of the UK is London. Great Britain is famous for its universities: Cambridge and Oxford.

P3: China is situated in Asia. Its a beautiful country. This is the ancient and modern country. It was founded several thousand years ago. China is the third largest country in the world, next to Canada and Russia. The capital of China is Beijing. This country is famous for the Great Wall of China.

P4: Canada is the second largest country in the world. It is washed by the Arctic Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The capital of Canada is Ottawa. In Canada there are people of many nationalities. There are two official languages in this country: English and French.

P5: Australia is the biggest island and the smallest continent in the world. It is washed by the Indian and the Pacific Oceans. Its a large country, but its population is only 18 million people. The capital of Australia is Canberra. English is the official language in Australia. This country is famous for its native animals: the kangaroo, the koala, the dingo and the emu.

P6: New Zealand is a small and quiet country in the Pacific Ocean. It consists of two main islands and some smaller islands. The capital of New Zealand is Wellington. The population of this country is mixed. The official languages are English and Maori. New Zealand is famous for its products: butter, cheese and meat.

P7: The USA is situated in North America It is washed by the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans. The official name of the country is the United States of America. The USA has the third largest population in the world. The capital of the USA is Washington. English is the official language, but Spanish is the second language in the USA.

T: Lets listen to the tape about three countries. But at first look at the blackboard. These are some new world, repeat them after me.

A: My country is a country and a continent. Its the sixth largest country in the world. Because of its geographical position, our summer is from December to February, and out winter – from June to August. My country is famous for its native animals: the kangaroo, the koala, the dingo and the emu. The kangaroo and the emu can be regarded as the symbols of our country. The 2000 summer Olympic Games were held in my country. The largest and the most beautiful cities of my country are Sydney, Melbourne and its capital – Canberra.

S: My country is situated in North America. It stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west. My country is large and famous. Who in the world has not heard of the Niagara Falls and the Mississipi, General Motors and Microsoft, Hollywood and Las Vegas, Mc Donalds and Coca Cola? The capital of my country is Washington.

M: I am from an island country in Western Europe. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the north, by the Irish Sea-in the east, by the North Sea-in the west. Its twice smaller than France or Spain. But its capital is one of the worlds biggest cities. Sometimes my country is called the UK for short. The Head of the country is Queen Elizabeth II. Most big towns have either a university or a college. There are 91 Universities in my country. The most famous and the oldest are Cambridge and Oxford. Id like to go and study in one of theme one day.
