Тема урока: “Australia is an island, isn’t it? ”

Цель урока: систематизировать лингвострановедческие знания об Австралии, познакомить с новым социокультурным материалом об Австралии, обогащение лексического запаса и активизация мыслительной деятельности учащихся;

способствовать развитию эмоциональной, интеллектуальной и мотивационной сфер личности учащихся.

Задачи урока

Образовательная: совершенствование навыков монологической и диалогической речи, а также навыков чтения и аудирования по теме “Австралия ”.

Развивающая:

• развитие познавательных процессов, памяти, воображения, внимания;

• развитие языковой и контекстуальной догадки;

• развитие навыка аудирования;

• развитие навыка чтения;

• развитие навыка устной речи;

• развитие грамматических навыков

• развитие навыка монологической речи;

• развитие исследовательских способностей, умений извлекать и анализировать информацию из различных источников.

Воспитательная: расширение социокультурного мышления, миротворческого восприятия национальных культур; повысить мотивацию к изучению предмета

Оборудование: фотографии, карточки с заданиями, карта Австралии, магнитофон, компьютер, проектор, презентация к уроку " Australia" , аудиокассета к учебнику

Ход урока.

I.Организационный момент
Приветствие.

T: Hello. I’m very glad to see you.

II.Установка на урок.

Учитель показывает бумеранг.Have you ever seen this object? What is it? What country is it from? Have you got any ideas about the theme of our lesson?

Australia is an exotic country. It has different names: The Land of Wattle – Край акации; Godzone – Страна Господа; Alfland – Элфландия; The Lucky Country – Счастливая Страна; Kangarooland – Страна кенгуру; Aussieland – Оззилэнд. It is also called Never-Never Land. Australian writer Henry Lawson said that people who visited inland regions swore they would never return back.

For the first time Australia was discovered by Dutch traveller Abel Tasman who called it New Holland. But he didn’t like this land and came back to Europe. Captain Cook hosted the British flag in 1770. He gave it the name New South Wales. Mathew Flinders offered to rename the continent. So it was called Australia.

Australia is unusual in many ways. I’d like to recite you a poem of Russian poet Usova “Страна наоборот”.

Она располагается под нами

Там, очевидно, ходят вверх ногами.

Там наизнанку вывернутый год.

Её исток на Лондонском причале.

Для хищников дорогу расчищали

Изгнанники и каторжный народ.

Why does she call this country Down Under Land

III. Фонетическая зарядка

– Do you remember any words connected with the topic?

– Thank you for your answers, you know a lot, but now it is time to learn some more about Australia.

IV. Аудирование текстов об англо-говорящих странах.

Учащиеся говорят о какой стране идет речь.

I want you to listen to some information about English-speaking countries. The task is to understand what countries are described.

V. Развитие навыка монологической речи.

Идет демонстрация презентации об Австралии. Учащиеся комментируют слайды.

VI. Контроль полученных знаний с помощью игры «Jeopardy».

а) Let’s play a game! It’s called «Jeopardy».

If you want to visit Australia you need much money. What is Australian money? (Ученики отвечают на вопрос.)

Choose the number of the questions. If you want to answer an easy question, choose a $5 or $10 one. The $50 and $20 questions are more difficult. The most difficult ones cost $100.

b) How many dollars have you earned? (Ученики подсчитывают количество заработанных долларов, озвучивают сумму.) You are rich now. You have an opportunity to go to Australia where it is summer now. It’s unusual for us.

Christmas in Australia

Most Australians have been dreaming of a white Christmas. But the traditional European Christmas is just a myth for Australians. Santas don’t fit with Australia’s thirty – degree heat. They have their own Christmas, Australian style.

Christmas in Australia happens in summer. The children learned songs like Frosty Snowman and Jingle Bells. On the postcards white winter scenes were published. These days it’s rare to find a snowflake on Christmas cards. Now publishers print Christmas cards with native animals and plants. On Christmas day you’ll find a number of children on the beach playing, swimming, surfing, building sand-castles instead of making snowmen. A beach towel is often presented for Christmas. They are usually outdoors in shorts and T- shirts eating barbecue. Christmas days are celebrated with festivals and carnivals. Christmas in Australia is a holiday of sunshine, surf and sand.
